The mission of Tami Stronach Dance is to reveal the body as the site where the self is most urgently located and understood. TSD carves out a much needed landscape where fractured pieces of the self can form new connections; dances that call upon the intellect, sensual intelligence, logic, and intuition to work together in a holistic fashion. TSD includes audiences in celebrating the exuberance of dancing and the transformative power of movement. A Brooklyn based company TSD is dedicated to offering both local and international performances and workshops to strengthen the artistic community in which it has been active for two decades as well as foster cultural exchange.
TSD is a project based company. For each new work Stronach draws from a select group of designers and dancers with whom she has collaborated for many years. Since its' formation in 2000 the company has been commissioned and or presented by over 20 venues in NYC including Danspace Project at Saint Marks Church, Dance New Amsterdam, Dance Theater Workshop, Joyce Soho, Joe's Pub, and PS122 among others.
TSD works have toured to CA, MI, CN, RI, VI and Fl as well as England and Australia. The company regularly performs and teaches at universities throughout the country. Additionally, Stronach choreographs for theater and film: the Berkshire Theater Festival, The Flying Machine, Ramapo University and the upcoming Czech film "The Lost Children of Aporver". TSD is the recipient of multiple grants from The Puffin Foundation, Bossek Heilbron Charitable Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, Goldman Sachs, the Brooklyn Arts Council, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council as well as Artist Residencies through the HERE Art Center and Galapagos Art Space.
